Okay, it was almost an afterthought. I knew I wanted a way to add Chinese paper lanterns for special occassions, but I wasn’t sure how to do it neatly when I started this patio project. I ended up running white 18-2 SPT-1 wire ‘zip cord’ along one side of each rafter. At every block, that’s every 18-inches, a white clamshell Pass & Seymour receptacle (2609WBPCC20) was snapped on for a total of 91 outlets. All the wiring and wiring devices are white as well as the rafters and blocking so that this ‘power grid’ is barely noticeable.
The paper lanterns are made up with short white cords - miniature candelabra socket with a 7W bulb on one end, power plug on the other.
